Does Benefit POREfessional Really Conceal Pores?

As we get older, the pores on or face become larger. Yes, ladies…. sun damage, environmental factors and that annoying thing we all call aging each contribute to the enlargement of our pores. So, if they’re not getting any smaller, what can we do about it?

The Porefessional by Benefit minimizes the appearance of pores. Applied under or over your makeup, Porefessional is most commonly used as a base or primer. Benefit recommends that if applying it under your makeup, you should apply it to clean, lightly moisturized skin, then pat it on any problem areas or visible pores and finally blend in with your fingertips.

The Porefessional 0.75 fl. oz/ 22ml

One of the most noteworthy things I can honestly say about this product is that it once you apply it, your skin immediately looks softer, smoother, and less porous. My pores are not super large to begin with but the ones I do have on my chin, forehead and sides of my nose look significantly smaller when I use this. They obviously do not disappear completely, but they are considerably less noticeable.

Porefessional has been compared to MAC’s Prep + Prime Line Filler although I have not tried that product and therefore can not comment or compare the two. The texture of Porefessional is very silky. It has a “silicone primer” feel, but isn’t greasy to the touch. It also has a pleasant scent and comes conveniently packaged in a tube.

 PROS:

  • Oil-free & lightweight consistency helps matify skin (great for oily or combination skin)
  • Creates a flawless looking base for makeup application
  • Reduces the appearance of pores and fine lines
  • “Translucent” shade (as you can see in the photos, it does have a bit of a nude tint to it)
  • Packaging: easy product access and controlled consumption.
  • Great for any skin tone or skin type
  • Contains a Vitamin E derivative, known to protect skin from free radicals.

CONS:

  • Cost. A 22ml tube costs $36 in Canada
  • Requires touch ups throughout the da

For those of you who don’t already use a face primer on a regular basis, Porefessional may be a nice way to supplement your foundation by softening the look of your pores. I prefer this to using any primer. The tiniest amount is all you really need. I’ve had this tube for 2 years and it isn’t even half empty! There are videos and before/after photos online if you want to see the actual application on the skin. I was skeptical at first, but decided to give it a try and I’m really glad that I did.

Have you tried Porefessional?
How do you think it compares to other primers or “line fillers”?
