Maybelline Master Hi-Light by FaceStudio: Product Review, Photos & Swatches

Maybelline has been hitting it out of the “beauty park” these last couple of years. It just seems that every new product that they launch is almost guaranteed to be another hit. I previewed most of Maybelline’s new Spring lineup at World Mastercard Fashion Week last November. At the time, I was most excited about getting my hands on some of the Color Elixirs by Color SensationalYou may have also caught some of the other Spring reviews? (if not, I’ve linked them for you below)

New for Spring 2014, Maybelline introduces new multi-tonal mosaic powders (2 bronzers + 4 blushes) that illuminate the skin by delivering radiant colour to the cheeks. Master Hi-Light by FaceStudio boasts a multi-pressed glow technology that claims to brighten and balance the complexion in one single swipe.  Skin looks healthy and naturally luminous despite the impressive pigmentation.

Each powder comprises of 4 varying tones that are meant to be swirled together to achieve a multi-dimensional effect. When blended well, the shimmer in each pan isn’t anything too intense and looks quite natural on the skin. The shades that have brown undertones are great sculpting options and the other colours make fantastic blushes!

Shades & Swatches:

I have three of the six Master Hi-Light powders and use them all quite differently.

I usually apply Nude #10 to the top of my cheekbones and other accent areas and use it most as a highlight. It has a light peachy hue and a subtle shimmer.

#20 Pink Rose is more of a rosy blush, so I reach for it when I want to achieve more of an iridescent pink effect on my cheeks.

I often reach for #50 Light Bronzer as a bronzer to add warmth to my face. I usually use a matte bronzer so this shade is a really nice option to have on hand, especially when I’m looking for more of a bronze-y glow. This one is my favourite of the three and will definitely be put to more use as the weather warms up.
