Tangle Teezer: The Original & Compact Detangling Hairbrush Review

Hi Beauties! Many of you know that I have a daughter. What you may not know is just how “batty” (I had to….it’s almost Halloween) her hair drives me everyday. Her hair’s texture is not the problem but she has a lot of it and unfortunately it tangles easily. Hair stylists that I’ve spoken with keep telling me it’s just the way that her hair is. We just recently cut it just past her shoulders in the hopes of making combing out those dreaded knots more manageable. I’m not exaggerating. We’ve actually had battles in the mornings because she “surface” brushes her hair and tries to run out the door to school. I’ve tried just about everything on her hair including pricey conditioners, detangling sprays and even wide tooth combs.

When I initially heard about the Tangle Teezer ($20.99-$25.99 CAD for compact style) – an ergonomic hairbrush designed by a hairstylist to painlessly remove tangles, I immediately thought it was a gimmick. But obviously I had to try it. Unlike traditional combs or brushes with longer bristles, the Tangle Teezer uses its tiny teeth to painlessly and easily remove tangles and knots as it styles and dries your hair.

When I wash my daughter’s hair, I typically use any shampoo, a good conditioner and then spray it while it’s still wet with some detangling spray. I then use the Tangle Teezer to brush through it. I find her hair slightly harder to work through when it’s dry, so spritzing with some more detangling spray usually helps. For stubborn tangles….you know the ones that like to collect at the nape of the neck, I still use the Tangle Teezer – it just takes a few more strokes and a bit more time – but being able to tackle those tangles without my daughter screaming in agony is a HUGE win in my book!

It’s no surprise to hear that celebrities and leading hair salons swear by this product. In a nutshell, it has made a tremendous difference in managing my daughters unruly hair. Before discovering the Tangle Teezer, I would have to hold my daughter’s hair in sections at the top of her scalp before attempting to work a brush through it. I used to have to do this to prevent her from screaming in pain. With the Tangle Teezer, we can now run through her hair without any pulling or yanking whatsoever. No need for sectioning off the hair and NO PAIN! Happy daughter. Happy Mom! If you suffer from tangles or know someone that does, I would strongly recommend you giving this product a try!
