Make Up For Ever Water Blend Face & Body Foundation (Review & Swatches)

Make Up For Ever’s Face & Body Foundation has resurfaced with a new name and a new formula! The brand’s classic pro foundation is now called Water Blend Face & Body ($43 USD/$54 CAD). Comprised of 80% purified water (yes – water!!), mango butter, glycerine and provitamin B5, the new foundation promises the same great results as the classic version + a super-hydrating, silicone-free formula. The biggest difference is that the new formula dries down to gorgeous satin finish. Water Blend is very sheer but perfect for those of you looking for light coverage or that “minimal makeup feel”. While it is definitely buildable, I wouldn’t recommend this particular formula if you need your foundation to cover acne, hyper-pigmentation, dark circles or other noticeable skin irregularities. But…..here’s why I like it:

Hydrating Coverage – Water Blend comes in a sturdy glass bottle with a hygienic pump. I prefer BB creams and light-to-medium foundations over heavy-duty formulas. I also don’t like the feeling of too much makeup on my face. So I was really excited to try out the new foundation nicknamed “second skin”. Make Up For Ever’s Water Blend Foundation is lightweight, waterproof and produces a dewy finish on the skin. It makes my skin look very moisturized while minimizing mild redness and unevenness. It also has a more fluid consistency as compared to the classic Face & Body foundation which makes it very easy to layer and build up if desired.

Radiant 12-Hour Wear – What I love even more about this formula is how natural it looks. It enhances my complexion and makes my skin look naked.  I prefer to use a stippling brush to apply this product as opposed to a damp sponge (like a Beauty Blender) or a dense brush. The result is a flawless, dewy, beautiful & even complexion.

Excellent Shade Range Water Blend Face & Body comes in over 20 shades to suit a wide variety of complexions and skin tones. Shades marked “R” have red/pink undertones and those marked “Y” have yellow undertones. The lightest shades are in the 200 range and the shades get darker as the numbers go up with the darkest options being Y505, R520 & R540. I tested out 2 shades: R300 (Vanilla) & Y325 (Flesh). Both colours worked well with my light-to medium skin tone but Y325 had a slight edge over R300. I also liked the effect that these foundations had when I blended them together. You could really do a lot with a product like this!mufemakeup forever water blend foundation

Water Blend is definitely worth a try! It’s breathable, hydrating and it looks great on the skin! I do wish it lasted a bit longer on me but aside from that, I would repurchase this for sure!
