Review: Garnier Moisture Renew Refreshing Gel-Creme

Upon first glance, the new Garnier Moisture Renew Refreshing Gel-Creme for dry skin reminds me a lot of Clinique’s Moisture Surge Thirst Relief, another ultra-hydrating gel moisturizer. Garnier’s version claims to be the “perfect solution for dehydrated skin” and it’s light-weight moisturizer also intensely locks in moisture and soothes dry skin for 24 hours, according to Garnier.

While I absolutely love the texture of it’s formula and the feeling that my skin has after I apply it, I do have mixed feelings about some of the active ingredients in this product.  Even though this product does a good job of moisturizing my skin, I really wish it didn’t contain alcohol. Nevertheless, I think this is a good option for those not wanting to invest in a high-priced moisturizer or those that do not have overly-sensitive skin and want a refreshing moisturizer for daytime wear.

Pros:
> Very lightweight gel texture
> Penetrates skin quickly, making skin feel instantly hydrated
> Enriched with anti-oxidant fruit water and Vitamin E
> No sticky or tacky feel
> Long-lasting (drier skin types may need to reapply)
> Although marketed for dry skin, this would be appropriate for all skin types

Cons:
> Alcohol, which is known to dry out the skin, and menthoxypropanediol, a well-known irritant, are listed as ingredients
> Some may find the fragrance overpowering
