Review: Soap & Glory Flake Away Body Polish / Scrub

One of my favourite hand creams of all time is by Soap & Glory. I received my first bottle of Hand Food in a beauty swap I did with a friend from the UK, and then later purchased my second tube online. I was pleasantly surprised while at my local Shoppers Drug Mart recently, when I noticed that they now exclusively carry the Soap & Glory’s range of body products. I didn’t pick up anything that day, but made a mental note to check out some product reviews online. While doing my research, I quickly discovered that one of Soap & Glory’s best selling products, (not only in the UK but also here in Canada) is Flake Away, a skin smoothing body polish that is said to transform “scaly legs” from reptilian to radiant. I just had to try it. Described as having superhero strength, this product definitely isn’t the gentle kind and targets the most stubborn dead skin, leaving skin looking/feeling smooth and lustrous.

Infused with a wonderful blend of shea butter, sweet almond oil, peach seed powder, sea salt and sugar, this body scrub smells AMAZING and is easy very to work with. I can see how some people find it a bit “rough” but honestly feel that anyone using a salt/sugar scrub should expect it have a bit of grit.  It isn’t harsh at all, but does have a grainy texture, which feels a little oily initially. I think it’s important to note that once the product has penetrated the skin, it leaves behind no oily residue whatsoever. I use this and other scrubs in the shower because having floating skin cells in my bath water is not my thing.

Soap & Glory – Flake Away

Scrubs in general are great to use before applying sunless tanner and make applying moisturizer easier. By getting rid of any dead skin cells, they leave skin feeling fresh and invigorated. What I really like about this particular one is how much more moisturizing it is, compared to others that I’ve tried. As I mentioned, it may feel greasy initially, especially to those of you with normal or oilier skin types but I find that it absorbs quickly and works well for me. It is a MUST for anyone with dry skin. I also use this on stubborn extra-dry areas, like elbows, knees and the heels of my feet.
