I recently attended an interactive nail workshop hosted by L’Oreal Canada with special guest and celebrity MANicurist Tom Bachik. Tom, a former graphic artist, skateboarder and super nice guy used to make his living custom-painting skateboarding helmets before becoming a highly-sought after nail technician for Hollywood’s elite. His work has been featured in countless publications and some of his “red carpet” clients include Jennifer Lopez, Mila Kunis, Anne Hathaway and Gwen Stefani. It was such an honour and pleasure to meet Tom, chat about nail trends and test out some of the exciting new products coming out soon from L’Oreal. Take a look……

Tom’s PRO tips for achieving the perfect manicure at home:
> Applying a base coat before applying a dark polish helps prevent staining
> Don’t rush. Allow each coat to dry for over a minute before applying the next
> If you have small nail beds, try angling the brush and “push” the polish towards the cuticle to get a smoother application.
> To prevent “air bubbles”, apply thin coats of polish and dry thoroughly

Over the next few months, L’Oreal will be launching some new nail products as well as introducing new shades of their popular Colour Riche nail polish. While I did like many of the new shades, the Nail Lingerie & Top Coats completely stole the show.
Adding a top coat is a necessary step to completing any manicure. L’Oreal’s new Top Coats “give nails an instant haute-couture wardrobe” and will be available in 6 new finishes. Available July 2013
The Colour Riche Nail Lingerie are 3D transparent nail art stickers that require no drying time and apply super easily! Wear alone or apply these gorgeous 3D effects (8 to choose from) on top of your regular manicure to customize your look or take it to the next level. Available June 2013
