Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush (Review & Swatches)

They have a spongy formulation, are dome-shaped and are among the most unique blushes on the market today. Maybelline‘s Dream Bouncy Blush, released early this year, are either a hit or a miss, depending on who you talk to, and while I was not initially blown away by this product, I do think Maybelline deserves “props” for creativity and ingenuity. After finding the best way to apply the Dream Bouncy Blush, and playing around with the product more, I have come to appreciate what this unique blush has to offer.

If you are not a fan of super-pigmented blush, and prefer more of a faint, natural flush to the cheeks, you will definitely enjoy these. I’ve read reviews, suggesting that these do not offer substantial pigmentation, however I tend to like the subtle effect and satiny glow that these provide.

I recommend using your fingers to apply this blush as I have yet to find a brush that pairs well with its formula. The consistency of these are revolutionary…no other brand offers anything like it. If I had to describe it, I’d say it feels like a dense cream to the touch but applies more like a soft silicone powder. The consistency takes a little getting used to but once you get the hang of it, the colour blends flawlessly and the finish looks quite natural.
Some of the lighter shades can be intensified or built up to a desired deeper shade while the brighter shades tend to fade throughout the day. Unfortunately, after applying this blush,  I DO need to use a makeup setting spray like MAC fix+ to improve it’s wear time. This provides a few more hours of wear without the need to re-apply product. So, lasting power would be my only complaint with these. Despite this however, I find myself reaching for these quite often, because I like the finish and they are so F-U-N to apply!
