A local news channel here in Canada (Global News) featured Marcelle’s BB Cream in a segment and coined it the “Miracle in a Bottle”. I believe they may have been onto something. Could this product really revolutionize your beauty routine?
Since before it’s February 2012 launch, I have used this skin care enhancer every morning in place of my foundation or tinted moisturizer. Before I get into the full review however, I’d like to explain just exactly what a Beauty Balm (BB cream) is. Relatively new to the North American consumer market but well known oversees in Asia, BB creams actually originated in Germany in the 1960’s. Dermatologists there used them as a foundation to help cover up blemishes and scars after cosmetic procedures. They then gained popularity in South Korea, 20 years later, when celebrities, both men and women credited BB creams to their flawless skin. By 2010, this multi-purpose wonder cream was trending all over Asia.
I bought my first 2 BB creams online in early 2011 and must admit, I was not too impressed. The ones I chose, were both way too thick for my liking. One of the brands had an awful grey cast which when applied, made my NC25 complexion appear paler than normal. The other, was alright, but definitely not a product I’d repurchase.
Marcelle’s BB cream is a much lighter consistency than the traditional BB creams and is more like a tinted moisturizer rather than a dense cream. Applying an even layer on the skin, blended well with your fingers, a brush or sponge applicator produces the most flawless complexion. My skin really feels hydrated and well nourished while looking toned and even when I use this. The Light-Medium shade is perfect for me and I love that it doesn’t have an obnoxious smell. This one product has managed to replace my primer, moisturizer and foundation!!! It’s hypoallergenic, doesn’t irritate my skin or break me out and has quickly become one of my top 5 skincare products of all time.
