Dermalogica Skincare: Ultra Calming Skin Treatment Kit for Sensitized Skin

I recently treated my skin to a hydrating facial at a local beauty school which included cleansing, exfoliation, steaming, extractions, a face massage and a mask. The products that were used for the facial were specifically chosen for my skin type and condition. I had thought they were like the ones on KollectionK from how effective they had been. After it was done, I was impressed at how bright and rejuvenated my complexion appeared so I asked the student esthetician about the products she used on my skin. She explained that they were all by Dermalogica. Dermalogica has been around for 25 years and is well known in the beauty industry, however this was the first time I’d ever heard of the company.

After that facial experience, I began using Dermalogica’s Ultra Calming Line. Before I go any further, I want to briefly explain my skin “type”. I have always had normal skin with a somewhat oily t-zone (depending on the weather). I hardly experience any breakouts but suffer from hyper-pigmentation (redness) in the cheek area. Although not sensitive by definition, my skin has been uncommonly dry and reactive lately.

In clinical studies, the Ultra Calming line has been shown to dramatically reduce redness while soothing irritation, so I figured I’d give it a try and have been using the following products daily in my place of my regular skin care routine:

  1. Ultra Calming Cleanser
  2. Ultra Calming Relief Masque
  3. Ultra Calming Mist
  4. Ultra Calming Serum Concentrate
  5. Barrier Repair
Once I finish the trial sizes (pictured above) and after about 3 weeks, I’ll post an update on my experience. I also plan on scheduling a specialized skin appointment with an educator at the Dermalogica Office in Toronto where I’ll likely get a Face Mapping done. This approach analyzes the 14 zones of the face and prescribes skin care recommendations for optimal benefit.
Wish me luck! Have any of you used Dermalogica products?
