Happy Friday beauties! I recently tried out the new Almay Smart Shade Powder Blush in the shade Pink (10). Just like all the other “Smart Shade” products by Almay, this blush contains a self-adjusting formula that adjusts to your specific skin tone. Because these products are meant to look slightly different on everyone, I can now understand why I’ve read some mixed reviews.
This particular product comes in three shades: Coral, Nude and Pink. From what I can see in photographs and swatches, the other two wouldn’t be colours I’d use for myself so if you have a light/medium skin tone like I do, I’d give the pink one a try. It may be too light for medium skin tones but definitely a good option for those with fair or light skin.
Each blush is made up of one solid dominate colour and two other shades (see the small polka dots!). It comes in a dual compact that when opened has the blush on top and a mirror/brush on the bottom. There is a generous amount of product in the compact – 6.8g to be exact which helps justify the price in my opinion.
I do agree with other reviews that say the powder is somewhat difficult to pick up with just ANY brush. I personally find that denser bristles work best so I usually use a buffing brush or a small kabuki and avoid using this with the tiny brush it comes with or dual-fibre brushes.
The Smart Shade blush in Pink looks very natural on my skin. It goes on sheer but can be easily intensified if I so desire. It isn’t the typical Spring blush we’ve been seeing this year……definitely isn’t as bold as some of those but I actually appreciate the subtle, delicate flush it gives my cheeks. Although I haven’t tried the other two shades, I don’t find the colours as flattering so if you’re planning to try this product, definitely pick up this colour.
