Shu Uemura, a luxury brand of beauty products, named after founder and legendary makeup artist Mr. Shu Uemura is well known around the globe for being “all about quality”. I’ve always wanted to try one of their cleansing oils but was always put off by having to put an oil on my face. I mistakenly thought that doing so would make my skin oilier, but I’m happy to report that isn’t the case at all. The Ultime8 Sublime Beauty Cleansing Oil contains 8 botanical origin oils and 8 impressive skincare benefits! I recently started using 2-3 pumps of this cleansing oil to remove my makeup. I’ve been using it on a dry face and along with my Clarisonic Mia and a bit of water. Although many Shu Uemura oils are emulsifying, I didn’t notice a lather with this one. However, it does an incredible job of removing impurities and makeup and is especially great at removing waterproof or stubborn products like mascara, cheek stain and/or long-wearing lip products. There is no residue and my skin is exceptionally clean after rinsing. And for those of you who may still be “turned off” by using an oil on your face, I can assure you, it doesn’t make the skin the slightest bit oily. It is like silk on the skin…. I am SO impressed!

Ultime8 combines all the skincare benefits you want in one product while improving the effectiveness of your makeup removal routine. Over time, it is also supposed to improve skin texture, reduce inflammation, combat wrinkles and hydrate, condition and nourish from within. Jojoba Oil in the product activates collagen to help renew skin, Shea Butter brightens the complexion, Safflower Oil strengthens the skin’s natural barrier, Soy supports blood circulation, Corn Oil hydrates deep down, Ginger Root reduces inflammation and helps fight wrinkles, Camellia Oil nourishes skin and Olive Squalene (derivative of olive oil) provides anti-oxidant effects. 

The price of this product isn’t cheap but for the quantity of product you get as well as it’s effectiveness, it can be totally justified. Appropriate for anyone, I think this product is a total must for anyone who uses heavy makeup or waterproof products on a daily basis. I love the packaging, pump dispenser, refreshing scent, and most importantly the way it removes my makeup while hydrating and cleansing my skin.
