Have you been to the drugstore lately? If so, you may have noticed Maybelline’s new selection of nude lipsticks? The Buffs, a selection of on-trend lipsticks that range in color from rich beige to spicy espresso were designed for every skin tone and are the newest addition to the Color Sensational family. (You may recall the Vivids range from last year?) Whether you opt for a soft and feminine lip or go with a sultry, seductive pout, nudes are a HUGE trend this season! Spotted recently at Spring/Summer 2014 fashion shows, the runway-inspired nude lip can be easily re-created using any of these 8 gorgeous, flesh tone shades now permanently available at your local drugstore. Let’s take a closer look at the shades……

The Buffs by Color Sensational lipsticks offer a smooth application, creamy texture and an opaque, nude look. I would recommend (as I would with any nude lipstick application) properly exfoliating your lips before applying a shade to get the best results. These lipsticks are non-drying and long-wearing. All of the shades offer medium, buildable coverage and range from cool to warm on the color spectrum. Surprisingly, even the lightest shade is richly pigmented.
I’ve always been a fan of the Color Sensational formula and am really excited to see shades that are more in line with my comfort zone. The Vivids were gorgeous but my go-to beauty look has always been “the smokey eye” & a nude lip. Finding that perfect nude/neutral color that suits you can be quite challenging though. While I can’t say that every shade from the Buffs range suits my light-medium complexion perfectly, there are a few standouts that look fabulous on my skin tone. (i.e. Blushing Beige & Nude Lust). I think that everyone will be able to find a nude shade that they love in this collection.
Grace Lee, Lead Makeup Artist for Maybelline New York (Canada) recommends prepping your lips with Baby Lips for moisture and protection before applying a nude lipstick. She also suggests blotting your lips with a touch of concealer first if they are more pigmented or have a lot of red in them.
