I love winding down after a long day. I’m a bit of a homebody that way and would rather cuddle up with some essentials oils and a good book rather than spend a night on the town. I work hard all week so naturally any free time I have is precious to me, and it’s usually reserved for some sort of pampering. Sheet masks have quickly become one of my favourite at-home treats! (Check out previous reviews of My Beauty Diary and Maskeraide) Sheet masks are different from standard masks – you don’t apply them then rinse them off – instead you “wear” the pre-soaked cloths on your face for 20-30 minutes. This allows the moisture-packed ingredients to stay in contact with your skin longer! The cloths are made to easily contour to the shape of your face and have pre-cut holes to protect the eyes, nose and mouth. There is no mess, no fuss and they’re great for travel too since they all come in individual packets!

I was recently introduced to Masque Bar by Look Beauty. Developed in Korea, but locally available, Masque Bar uses spa-quality ingredients to help treat all sorts of skin issues from dullness, dryness, blemishes and wrinkles. There are even masks that calm & soothe the skin and others that target your pores. In addition to the wide variety of face masks, Masque Bar has also developed masks for the hands, feet, lips and eyes! 

Even if you moisturize every day and night, your skin could ALWAYS benefit from some extra hydration. I use sheet masks 1-2 times a week, exfoliating first to allow the ingredients to absorb better. I’ve really been loving Masque Bar’s brightening mask and their intensive lip care. The brightening mask’s formula (orange extract, licorice root, Vitamin C) brightens, corrects and illuminates skin while helping to minimize the appearance of dark spots and hyper pigmentation. It’s fabulous and does a great job of waking up my tired, dull looking skin after a long day. The lip treatment is great too. The gel patch works to hydrate and soothe dry, cracked or chapped lips. It’s perfect for this time of year when lips need that extra moisture and some TLC. Formulated with Cranberry extract, Shea butter, Jojoba oil & Vitamin E … the lip patch loads lips up with moisture. These masks are well saturated, easy to use and much cheaper than costly skin treatments that produce similar results. I still haven’t tried the eye masks out but I’m hoping that they go to battle with my dark circles! Fingers crossed!
