L’Oréal Paris recently came out with a new hair care range that combines 3 refined mineral clays. The re-balancing range that claims to reveal perfectly balanced hair is called Extraordinary Clay and includes a breakthrough ingredient that “breaks the cycle of oily roots and dry ends”. Clay’s ability to cleanse, purify and energize is unrivalled. It combats excessive oil production at the roots and nourishes dehydrated tresses though the lengths and ends. The collection is formulated with Kaolinite, Argilane & Montmorillonite to help absorb oil, cleanse, purify and hydrate your hair! Let’s have a look 🙂
The launch in Canada includes a Pre-Shampoo Mask, a Shampoo and a Conditioner. Before I tell you more about each product, can we just stop a second and take a closer look at the stunning turquoise packaging? Now, I never judge a product based on the outside but this trio was so fun to photograph and as soon as it landed on my desk I was so inspired to try it! The colour is breathtaking and the bottles look so cute in my bathroom. Love!
Over-washing your hair isn’t recommended so I typically wash mine only 2-3 times per week and rely on dry shampoo in between washes. The most frustrating thing about not washing your hair too often is that you are usually left with greasy roots and dry ends (especially if you use heat styling tools every day like I do). These products were created to combat oily roots & dry ends and I could be wrong, but I don’t think that there is anything comparable to them on the market? The range eliminates the need to over-wash your hair because it keeps oils at bay. And less washing, means healthier, more manageable hair! After using these products for awhile, I realized that my hair stayed fresher longer and I didn’t have to reach for my dry shampoo as quickly. The clay formula didn’t strip my hair or make it dry at all (like I suspected it would) and it did a great job at cleansing and nourishing my hair in preparation for styling.
Step 1 – Apply the Pre Shampoo Treatment (Clay Mask) ($8.50 CAD) to dry hair (specifically massaging in onto your roots) and leave on for 5 minutes before rinsing off. This mask has a lovely fragrance and a really nice, thick consistency that coats each strand of hair. This mask should be used before you shampoo to help absorb excess oil and rinse away impurities.
Step 2 – Massage the Extraordinary Clay Shampoo ($5.99 CAD) into your pre-treated hair as you would any other shampoo. Your hair will be further striped of all impurities…..dry hair will feel hydrated and your hair will feel soft and fresh.
Step 3 – Finish off with the Extraordinary Clay Conditioner ($5.99 CAD). Apply the conditioner to freshly, cleansed hair. I like to leave conditioner on my hair a few minutes before rinsing off. You’ll notice how easy your hair is to finger comb in the shower as you are rinsing this product out of your hair!L’Oreal new pre-shampoo, shampoo & conditioner routine did exactly what it promised. It absorbed oil at the roots and nourished dry ends. Styling was also a breeze after using this routine. If you have straight/fine hair, colour your hair or struggle with oily roots and dry ends, this range is something you may want to try out? Available now at mass retailers and drugstores across the country.
