L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche Nail Lacquer: Gold Dust Collection (Review, Photos & Swatches)

As many of you know, I’m not an avid supporter of textured polish. For the most part, I like the way that textured polish looks, but it lacks shine and I can’t seem to stop chipping away at my finger nails when I wear it. I must say though, the new Gold Dust Colour Riche Collection by Loreal Paris is absolutely breathtaking. So pretty in fact that I may just have to deal with this habitual “polish picking” in order to start enjoying some of these polishes. Of the 9 metallic shade available, I have five to show you today. I’m not entirely sure whether these are limited edition or if they will be part of the permanent range but I’d snatch these up soon if you see something you like just in case they are exclusive.

The Gold Dust lacquers are textured polishes which dry to a matte, sandy finish. The consistency is on the thicker side but this is quite common with textured polishes. These remind me a bit of the Orly MegaPixels and Liquid Sand polishes from OPI, only the L’Oreal ones seem to have a slightly better formula and are not professional grade.

(L-R): Diamond in the Rough, Pop the Bubbles, Too Dimensional?, Hidden Gems & Rough Around the Edges
Shades:

Diamond in the Rough (#140) – warm silvery taupe with lavender-pink glitter
Pop the Bubbles (#142) – light aqua teal with silver sequin-shaped glitter

Too Dimensional? (#136) – An amethyst purple with champagne gold & sequin-shaped glitter

Hidden Gems (#141) – A blackened base with teal shimmer and silver sequin glitter

Rough Around the Edges (#139) – A matte black with a sugary texture and silver sparkle

Other Shades in the Collection:

The Statement Piece – a pale, champagne gold with a sandy, glittery texture and silver sequin glitters

The Reign of Studs – a light-medium purple with silver sparkle and silver sequins

Sexy in Sequins – darkened base with a purple tint and bits of green/gold sparkle

I Like it Chunky – a bronzey/copper with silver & pink sparkle

Despite my preference for non-textured polishes, this formula is quite easy to work with and lasts longer than a regular polish typically would. (unless you are anything like me and pick away at the grit in the formula?) The Gold Dust lacquers also come with L’Oreal’s improved, wide brush. Those of you with more narrow nails may need to exercise caution while applying these but I think that this brush is awesome! To get their full effect, textured polishes are meant to be worn without a top coat. As for their application, L’Oreal recommends 1 coat for jewel-textured nails. I prefer 2-3 thin coats as opposed to two thicker ones for a more even and aesthetically appealing result.

Which of the Gold Dust polishes are your favourite?

Do you have any tips on removing glitter/textured polishes? I’d love to hear from you.
