Rodial is a luxury British brand that uses innovative ingredients like dragon’s blood and bee venom in their skin care products, but did you know that they also have a cosmetic range? The makeup line (which launched last year) was designed with highlighting & contouring in mind and includes products that sculpt and define the face and body. I have a few of them to share with you today. As with any review that you see on this site, I really take my time testing products before forming an opinion. I don’t think it’s fair to judge or praise a product after using it only once. Unfortunately, I see that happen way too often online. Anyways, I’ve had these products for about 5 months and am excited to finally share my thoughts.

First impression – Rodial’s silver metallic compacts are breathtaking and very sturdy. Each one has a leather embossed lid, a magnetic closure and a mirror. They are very stylish but not too heavy. The makeup brushes are made from synthetic bristles and have a gorgeous black, sleek design. All other product packaging is durable, sleek and simple.

Instaglam Compact Deluxe Bronzing Powder ($75 CAD/10.8g)

Craving a tan? This bronzer in 02 Natural Sun Kissed gives off a very natural sun-kissed glow. Warm bronzers tend to look muddy on most skin tones but not this one. The powder is finely milled and has a beautiful matte finish. The “universal shade” is great for light to medium skin tones but I don’t think that it would be as flattering on deeper ones. I love that it has no shimmer and that it can be built-up or sheered down. This bronzer can also be used for contouring, which makes it multi-functional. Definitely a splurge purchase but worth every penny if the shade works for you.

Beauty Tip: Using a powder brush, lightly dust some bronzing powder around the hairline (1″ above the temples), across the cheekbones and finally to the tip of your nose. This will add depth and warmth to your face and create an instant sun-kissed glow.

Highlight Brush ($46 CAD)

When applying makeup, using the right brush can make all the difference in the world. This “highlighting” brush (pictured above) delivers the perfect amount of product to the face. Whether you’re applying highlighter, blush or bronzer, this brush blends out product evenly and effortlessly. It can also be used to buff in concealer or foundation because of the density of its bristles. This brush works great for both powder and cream products and doesn’t shed which is another plus!

Instaglam Skin Tint ($45 CAD/40ml)

I could be wrong, but I believe the Instaglam Skin Tint shown in this post (black tube) may have been relaunched in silver packaging and now includes a broad spectrum SPF20? While I can not comment on the new formula (if there is one?), the tinted moisturizer that I’ve been using is incredibly lightweight and very hydrating. I initially thought that this shade was going to be too dark on me, however it actually worked out quite well on my skin tone because of how sheer it is. Skin Tint also worked well as a subtle contour when applied only to the hollows of my cheeks, the bridge of my nose and the top of my forehead. I would disagree with claims that this is medium coverage however as I found it to be very, very light. My skin looks healthy when I apply this product overtop of my regular moisturizer and a primer but if you need to cover blemishes and/or imperfections, then you will need something with much more coverage.  

Beauty Tip: When choosing any shade of foundation or tinted moisturizer, remember that cool tones balance the natural redness in your complexion while warmer pink tones energize the natural yellow undertones in your skin.

Eye Sculpt ($34 CAD/6.5ml)

This ashy brown “eyeshadow” (shown below) can be used to define and sculpt the eye lids or to fill in your brows. I’ve been using Eye Sculpt to create a more defined smokey eye and to sculpt my face! Yes, you read that right. The whipped, mouse-like texture of this product blends easily and works perfectly as an eye, nose or face contour as well! Definitely a must-try.   

Smokey Eye Pen ($21 CAD/1.2g)

Everyone needs a good quality black eye liner in their makeup stash.  Black eye liners are great for smudging onto the lower lash line or when creating a fierce winged liner on the upper lash line. This pencil liner has an ultra creamy gel formula that glides on smoothly, it lasts for hours and doesn’t smudge. 

Magic Pen Corrector ($28 CAD/3g)

Rodial’s Magic Pen Corrector conceals and corrects imperfections like dark spots, uneven skin tone and hyper-pigmentation. I assume that this would also work on blemishes but I can’t confirm this. I love that the corrector comes in convenient pen form, which can be easily tossed in any handbag. I also really like the creamy consistency of this product (reminds me of the Urban Decay 24/7 Concealer Pencils). Magic Pen is travel-friendly, long-lasting and it works!

Magic Pen Eye Glow ($28 CAD/3g)

I’m often asked how I manage to juggle a full-time job, this website, 2 kids and a household and still manage to look half alive. While I try to get ample rest, that’s not always possible so the next best thing to a good night’s sleep is to fake it. I use illuminating products like Eye Glow to add instant brightness to my face, which in turn erases any signs of fatigue. There are many techniques out there including lining your waterline (opens up your eyes), blending some product in the inner corner (adds brightness) or applying a pearlescent, creamy product like this one underneath the arch of your brow (lifts and defines). These methods all work at disguising how tired you really are!  

Beauty Tip: Use your fingertips to blend out Eye Glow for increased sheen and a more dewy finish.
