Fragrances are very personal and each of us have our own unique scent memories and preferences. I like to change-up my fragrances every season and this year, many new and surprising scents have made it into my seasonal rotation. I like reaching for different scents depending on my mood or what I plan on doing each day and I seldom stick to just one or two options. One things for sure… I typically gravitate towards fruity or floral scents but I’ve been surprising myself lately and choosing scents that aren’t so predictably “me”. From scents I’ve been enjoying to those I’m considering purchasing for myself, friends or family, I’ve rounded up my top fragrances for Fall 2016. Hope you enjoy!! Ps….be sure to leave me comment below & let me know what your favourite fragrance is!
Guerlain’s Néroli Outrenoir L’Art & la Matière Collection consists of 8 luxury fragrances but the one that has managed to revive my love for all-things vanilla is Spiritueuse Double Vanille ($300 CAD/75ml EDP). It’s a multi-faceted fragrance with vanilla base notes, bergamot & pink pepper top notes and jasmine & ylang ylang in the centre. The perfume comes in a sleek bottle with a vintage looking bulb atomizer and is available at the Guerlain Boutique in Toronto this November.
Singing sensation Rihanna recently introduced a second fragrance in her namesake RiRi Collection called Crush ($69 CAD/100 ml EDP). Exclusive to Shoppers Drug Mart beauty boutiques, the floriental fragrance is sexy and exudes confidence, just like Rihanna herself. It pairs sensual woody notes, sweet red berries and pink peppercorn to create an undeniably fun, yet strong feminine scent! Look out for a limited edition gift set (100ml EDP Spray, 75ml Body Lotion & 6ml Rollerball – $70 CAD) for the Holidays.
L’Occitane’s Arlésienne Eau de Toilette ($75 CAD/75ml) is a long time favourite of mine. You may remember my review of it here? It has a hint of floral and a crisp, fresh scent that combines rose, sweet violet, saffron and white musk. The timeless fragrance has been re-introduced with new packaging for the Holidays and for the second year in a row, L’Occitane will again be donating up to $120,000 to Dress for Success! (10% of all Holiday gift sets sold between December 1-25th will go to DFS).The fragrance that has surprised me the most this season is My Burberry Black ($138/90ml) – a fusion of sun-drenched jasmine flower, peach nectar, candied rose and patchouli. It is much bolder and far less sweet than I am used to but I have to admit, when it dries down and warms on the skin, it sure is something beautiful. My Burberry Black is captivating and can be worn universally by men or women. Another winner this Fall is Dior’s Miss Dior Absolutely Blooming ($119/50ml). The opening notes of red fruit, raspberry, pomegranate and blackcurrant accord demand attention but what’s really been appealing to my senses is the subtleness of pink peppercorn and its honey/peppery notes. Absolutely Blooming is a floral bouquet of roses at the heart with a base of white musk. It has so many levels to it and quite the fragrance personality. Available at Sephora, The Bay, Holt Renfrew and Shoppers Drug Mart beauty boutiques in Canada.
For that special man in your life, Azzaro’s Wanted ($92/100ml) is an absolute must-have! The bottle, which resembles the barrel of a gun is a harmonious blend of style and technology, making it a collector’s piece in itself. The fragrance inside however, is everything you’d expect from a sexy, strong, rugged cologne. It’s woody, spicy and citrusy notes pack a punch without being overpowering. From cardamom & ginger to tonka bean and lemon, Wanted boasts confidence and strength. I just love it!
There you have it! My top 5 ladies and favourite mens perfume for Fall 2016.
