I missed out on getting my hands on the Laura Mercier Artist’s Palette for Eyes that was released around the Holidays in 2012. Fortunately for me, a second palette was released over a year later that was just as nice… if not better. The one I finally got my “makeup-loving hands on” is the 2013 release which includes a gorgeous collection of 12 soft and luxurious eye shadows. (4 of which were also part of the 2012 version)

Packaging:
The palette itself is made of a sturdy brown case that is pebbled on the outside and hard plastic on the inside. It comes with a mirror but does not include any type of applicators. It closes securely with a a magnetic closure. Each eye shadow pan holds 0.03oz or 1 gram of product. For reference, a regular Laura Mercier eye shadow that is sold separately is much larger (almost 3x the size) in comparison.

> Sparkling Dew – pale light pink with warm undertones (frosted/satin finish)
> Guava – peachy-pink with a golden sheen (frosted/satin finish)
> African Violet – shimmering violet with a golden frost and cool undertones

> Plum Smoke – muted smokey purple with neutral undertones (matte finish)
> Kir Royal – deep aubergine with warm undertones (matte finish)

> Vanilla Nuts – slightly pink tinted beige (matte finish)

The shades range from neutral nudes to bolder berry & brown tones….all of which can easily transition from day to night. I like that this palette includes a variety of matte, satin and frosted finishes and that it includes more matte options than we would typically see in the average palette.

Texture & Performance
The shadows included in this palette are gorgeous and blend very well. The texture is more creamy and soft than the average eye shadow, which makes some of the shades come off a bit powdery but the finish is beautiful. Each of the colours have excellent colour payoff, don’t crease or fade and last about 6-8 hours without a primer. It’s actually hard to say anything negative about this palette. Even the price is justifiable in my opinion. (the palette is valued at $90).
