There was a time not too long ago, that all I would ever use on my eyes was a pencil liner. The mere thought of using liquid or gel liner intimidated me, since my hands weren’t exactly precise or cooperative when it came to application. However, on a whim one day I picked up MAC’s Fluidline which when used with a fine tip liner brush, forever changed the way I lined my eyes. Some of my favourite GEL liners that I continue to repurchase are MAC Fluidline, Bobbi Brown Ink, and Inglot Gel Liner, however I had never found a holy grail drugstore equivalent. The Maybelline Eye Studio came close, but I didn’t like how quickly it dried up after opening and the dryness I felt on my eyes when I wore it for over 6 hours.
This summer, L’Oreal Paris was part of the Luminato Festival in Toronto and I had the opportunity to get pampered by international makeup artist Eddie Malter and celebrity hairstylist Eric Del Monaco. One of the items in my goodie bag was the Super Liner Gel Intenza in Pure Black. For more about my 2012 Luminato experience, please link to my post on it here.
The super liner gel intenza is richly pigmented a beautiful jet black. It comes in a classy looking glass pot with a gold lid and includes an applicator brush. The liner goes on very smooth and is very easy to apply…..the brush isn’t perfect but it does the job fine. See below for an alternative brush option that I prefer.
Once applied, this gel liner lasted all day on my eyes without smudging, so it is certainly long-wearing. I”m not exactly sure about the 24 hour claim, since I did not keep it on that long (I wore mine about 15 hours), however it still took a bit of effort to get it off at night, making it the most durable liner I’ve tried in a while. The L’Oreal Paris Gel Intenza is now available at most drugstore chains and mass retailers, so be on the look out for it.
The brush I prefer over all others for applying gel liner is by Sigma Beauty and is available for purchase online. For more information on the Sigma E05, which retails for $9US click here.
