I spent most of the summer months using just about every BB cream on the western market, although I must admit I have been curious about other “coverage” products including Marcelle’s BB Cream to Powder and L’Oreal’s Visible Lift Repair Absolute. Since I have yet to try Marcelle’s (other than swatching it at a local event), I wanted to share my thoughts on the L’Oreal foundation which I have been using.
L’Oreal’s Visible Lift Rapid-Age Reversing Makeup is basically a cream foundation infused with Pro-Retinol A, a titanium dioxide sunscreen broad spectrum SPF 16 and other ingredients that claims to conceal, and even repair skin. It comes in a circular 20g jar that opens by unscrewing the cap. The bottom of the jar has a flip up lid that houses a sponge.
Now, anything that claims to slow or defy the aging process gets my attention no matter what it is or who makes it. Needless to say, I haven’t ever been a fan of powder or cream foundation. For those of you who follow this blog, you may know that I have pretty decent skin with no major issues or acne. As the years pass, I’m noticing more redness, fine lines and age spots, hence the need for a concealing product as part of my daily routine.
I’ve been using this product daily for at least a month and it does a great job at covering up the redness on my chin/cheeks/forehead and concealing my dark circles under my eyes. It also provides my skin with a flawless base layer of sun protection, sufficient for our Canadian climate. Unfortunately though, I haven’t noticed my skin to be any firmer with use. This was a bit disappointing since the product claims “results” are visible in just one week. I need to also mention that the coverage (although perfect for me) may be too “light” for those looking for a heavier coverage or for those with more problematic skin. I found that the best way to apply this (despite the sponge it comes with) was to use my Sigma F84 Angled Kabuki brush. It provided the smoothest and most flawless coverage. I barely made a dent in the container after 30+ days of use and as you can see in the photo below, there is plenty of product left. Despite not noticing the anti-aging and skin-repairing benefits after my initial trial period, I did really enjoy the concealing element of this product and found the coverage silky, smooth and lightweight. I also loved the built in sunscreen! Overall, another impressive product by L’Oreal!
