If you know me well, you know that I take really good care of my skin. At least I do when it comes to caring for it on the outside. I admit, I should probably make more of an effort to watch what I eat, drink more water and stay out of the sun, but since I was the age of 18, I’ve always made sure to include a cleanser, toner, moisturizing lotion/serum, occasional mask/exfoliator and eye cream to my skin care routine.

I was recently introduced to a brand called Consonant, which is made right here in Canada. This brand is all natural and recommended for sensitive skin types. While my skin is not considered “sensitive”, as I’ve mentioned in previous posts, it can become reactive under stressful situations or in certain climates, so I wanted to give Consonant’s award winning cleanser a try. The Organic Foaming Face Wash is 100% natural with no added colour, dyes, perfumes, or fragrances. It indicates right on the package that it’s “formulated without irritating synthetic foaming agents” and also states that it is pure and unscented.

I’ve been using this product daily for about 3 weeks now and every time I use it, I get the same squeaky clean feeling after I wash my face.  My skin has been feeling smooth and has even started to look more taut without any uncomfortable tightness. This cleanser is gentle enough to use a few times a day without having to worry about drying out your skin. It gently washes away makeup and dirt without stripping skin of it’s natural oils and does an excellent job of deep cleaning the skin. I really love it’s subtle scent and the silkiness of the foam. This would be a great option for anyone who is afraid to try more chemically based skin products in fear that those may cause breakouts, redness or irritation. 

Application: At bedtime, I remove my makeup using Bioderma’s Micelle Solution. I then use 1-2 pumps of this face wash to cleanse my skin along with my Clarisonic Mia. If you don’t have a Clarisonic, just massage this product into your face using your fingers and a circular motion until you feel that your face has been thoroughly washed. After you’ve cleansed your skin, apply your toner (this step is optional since this cleanser is pH balanced), moisturizer, eye cream and/or serum as you normally would.
