Essie: Nail Trends at World Mastercard Fashion Week in Toronto (Fall/Winter 2013)

What a week this has been! World Mastercard Fashion Week in Toronto just wrapped up another season and this time I was around to catch some of the exciting action. This year, the official sponsors of WMCFW were Maybelline New York (makeup), Essie (nails) and Redken (hair) and I was right there backstage, interviewing and meeting all of the creative geniuses behind this years runway looks.  I also got a little star struck at the RUDSAK show when I met the beautiful and talented Jessica Lowndes (Adrianna Tate-Duncan from 902010). Overall, it was such a memorable experience to be part of the hustle and bustle backstage as hair and makeup teams got the models runway ready! Take a look at some of the amazing nails designed by lead Nail Artist, Rita Remark and her Essie nail team.

Lucian Matis & Rita Remark
For Lucian Matis, Rita created three very different yet sleek looks. Nail look #1 featured Sand Tropez as a base with swirls of Bachelorette Bash (fuchsia), Going Incognito (green), Mesmerized (royal blue) and Smokin’ Hot (gray) to create the wispy feather effect. This combination was sealed with Good to Go top coat. Look #2 was a textured pattern created using two coats of Midnight Cami as the underlying hue with a criss-cross pattern of Waltz and Matte About You over top. And for look #3, two coats of black Licorice and the Good to Go top coat were used to create simple yet elegant nails.
