Clarins Spring 2013: Rouge Eclat Collection Review & Swatches

Clarins has released an assortment of cosmetics for Spring that are utterly breathtaking. The Rouge Eclat Collection includes products for the complexion, eyes and lips and is available online or at store counters right now. I have three pieces from the collection (the eyeshadow quad, age-defying lipstick & shine sheer lipstick) and have been really liking each one so far. The packaging is gorgeous and the products themselves have not disappointed.

The Ombre Minerale 4 Couleurs Eye Quartet Mineral Palette in Iris Blossom features four long-lasting eye shadows beautifully embossed on top with an iris flower. The plum and grey colours can be worn alone or combined while the black can double as a liner and the white, as a highlighter. I thought the quality of this palette was very good overall. I loved the colours and thought they coordinated quite well. The only thing I would change is the pigmentation of the white shadow… even though it is intended to use as a highlighter, I felt that it lacked lustre and pigment. The other three shadows in this palette were simply amazing.

The new Rouge Eclat Age Defying Lipstick comes in 15 shades, each with it’s  own luminous satin finish. There are neutrals (i.e. Nude Rose, Nude Caramel, Petal Pink), brights (i.e. Passion Red, Juicy Clementine) and everything else in between. These are super moisturizing lipsticks with great colour payoff and I love that they offer more than just colour. Each lipstick protects the lips against dehydration, boosts collagen synthesis and fights the appearance of fine lines.

The Joli Rouge Brillant Perfect Shine Sheer Lipstick range introduced two new shades with this collection: Watermelon (see below) and Sweet Plum. These lipsticks offer delicate colour and sparkling shine. And their fruity scent gets me every time.

The collection also includes a mineral loose powder, a face/blush powder (this product is currently on my wish list), an instant light brush-on perfector, mascara, and two new glosses.  While I haven’t tried the entire collection, I do think it is worth checking out, solely based on what I’ve seen so far.
