Vichy Skin Care Update: Cleansing & Toning Routine

At the beginning of this month, I started a new skincare routine using only Vichy products. My ultimate goal was to determine how my skin looked and felt after 30 days as well as review some of the products for all of you along the way. This first update will focus on the cleansing and toning products in my routine.

For the last several weeks I have been using the Pureté Thermale Purifying Foaming Water Radiance Revealer to cleanse my skin. This pink foaming cleanser is recommended for all skin types but is especially great for anyone with dry, dull, dehydrated or aging skin concerns. Purifying water dispenses from a pump and transforms into a high-density foam on contact with water. I’ve been using a few “pumps” of this cleanser every night to gently cleanse my skin. I don’t find that I need to use it again in the morning, since my skin is pretty clean when I wake up. This product is gentle enough however, that if you feel you need to cleanse twice a day, you totally could. Even though rinsing is not necessary, I’ve preferred to use this in tandem with my Clarisonic Mia. I found this combo to be most effective, and so far, I can say that it has been doing a great job of removing dirt and impurities and making my skin feel fresh and radiant. It’s a very light and refreshing product, which I appreciate. It smells phenomenal and doesn’t dry out my skin like some other cleansers I’ve used.

When I feel that my skin needs a more deep clean, I’ve been reaching for the Pureté Thermale Purifying Exfoliating Cream. I’ve used this at least 2-3 times over the last few weeks. This exfoliator contains Vitamin E and Jojoba Pearls that deeply cleanse pores. It has a rich, creamy texture and comes packaged in a convenient squeezable tube. While my skin did feel “squeaky clean” after each use, I did experience a few small blemishes and a bit of redness after each application. This may have been due to the fact that I also used this with my Clarisonic so I’ll be using my fingertips to apply this cream exfoliant for the rest of the month to see if that makes any difference. I will say, as a deep cleanser and exfoliant, this does a very good job. I just wonder if the higher concentration of exfoliating grains is making my skin react somehow?

Every morning and again at night (after using the foaming cleanser), I’ve been applying the Pureté Thermale Refreshing Toner to my face using a cotton pad. Toners, in general are great because they help restore the skin pH balance and also have soothing and cleansing properties. I found this one to do a very good job of each, while also hydrating my skin. With other toners, my skin usually feels a bit dry and/or stripped of essential moisture but I didn’t experience that with this one. I do wish it had slightly less fragrance but aside from that, I would repurchase this toner for sure.

To remove my makeup, I’ve incorporated the Pureté  Thermale Soothing Eye Makeup Remover for Sensitive Eyes into my routine. This was a hard switch for me since I am practically married to my Bioderma Sensibo. However to be fair to this challenge, I have been using this product daily to remove my eye and face makeup. I must say, I’m pleasantly surprised so far. One thing I wish Bioderma was a bit better at is removing stubborn eye makeup and this product, although gentle is highly effective for just that! I can’t endorse the claim that it helps reduce fatigue around the eyes since I haven’t noticed any improvements there, however I do think this is a refreshingly gentle option to remove makeup. I really like that there is no “oily aftermath” with this product. Also, it hasn’t dried out my skin, (this is especially important in the eye area) and has not caused any irritation whatsoever. There has been no stinging, blurriness, no lost eye lashes, nothing… just clean.

Ok, there comes a time in every beauty bloggers career that you stumble upon a true gem. I still remember the “wow factor” I experienced when I first discovered Gel Liner, the Shiseido Facial Cotton, Bioderma Micelleur Solution, and the Nivea Lip BalmsThis my friends, was one of those moments. Who would have thought that water sprayed from an aerosol can would have me this excited? Vichy’s Eau Thermale contains mineral-rich Vichy Thermal Water, a true miracle of nature and an ingredient found in ALL Vichy products. There are countless benefits of this water…. it’s fortifying, regenerating, soothing and full of minerals and antioxidants essential to skin health. It also helps fight the signs of aging and makes skin more resistant to environmental pollutants. I spray this on my face quite often but especially when it needs a quick “pick me up”. My skin instantly feels like it’s breathing new life. Did you know that spraying this in your mouth also helps when you have a sore throat?

I hope you enjoyed my first update! My next one will focus on my day/night moisturizing routine as well as the eye cream I’m currently using.

Let me know in the comments below if you’ve ever tried Vichy products, what you like/dislike about them and/or what you’re currently using on your skin. I’d love to hear from you. Also, if have any skincare related questions, please feel free to ask.
