Maybelline FIT Me Shine-Free Foundation: Review, Photos & Swatch

Maybelline’s Fit Me Shine-Free Foundation is a new gel-stick foundation that has an anti-shine core that is meant to provide mattifying coverage. It comes in a convenient twist-up stick format and is available in 12 oil-free shades. (consistent with the Fit Me range of colours). It is not often that you see a stick foundation in the drugstore so this one immediately got my attention. The outside of this product is foundation and the center is a serum. (anti-shine core) The texture itself is really nice….very lightweight and easy to blend. I like that this product provides a matte finish and lightweight, breathable coverage but some of you may find it’s coverage too sheer or light for your needs. This product definitely requires the backup of a concealer if you have any scarring or dark spots but it does a good job of concealing redness on its own. Keep reading for pros/cons and my overall impression.

Pros:
> Lightweight texture that doesn’t dry out the skin
> Anti-shine core mattifys skin & keeps it shine-free
> Great texture – light & creamy with a powdery feel to it
> Conceals redness and light spots/scarring
> Smooth semi-matte finish
> Great for touch-ups on the go

Cons:
> Sheer-to-light coverage may not provide enough coverage for some (* product builds up to a light-medium finish but not likely to conceal acne scarring or significant discolouration).
> Required re-application – not a long-lasting foundation
> Oilier skin types may require the additional mattifying properties of a powder in tandem with this product

Swatch: Fit Me Shine-Free Foundation #115

I’ve always enjoyed lighter coverage products like tinted moisturizers and BB creams as opposed to heavier foundations, so this product was great for me. I really liked it overall. It has a nice texture, it was great to toss in my purse, concealed redness, controlled shine and applied effortlessly. For those of you that typically require heavier coverage, this is not a product you should consider, but for everyone else looking for a lightweight texture that isn’t drying and feels great on the skin, I’d give this a go!
