Make Up For Ever Introduces their Artisan Brush Collection (Details, Photos & Pricing)

Professional makeup artists and amateur makeup enthusiasts (like me!) recognize the importance of using the right tools when applying makeup. I’ve always said that good quality brushes do most of the work for you. They are more than mere applicators. A good brush can sculpt, contour, define and apply makeup with ease & precision. I’ve been slowly investing in good quality brushes for awhile now and many of my favourites are from brands like MAC, Sigma, Real Techniques and Eco Tools.

Make Up For Ever recently announced a revolution in brushes with their introduction of the new Artisan Brush Collection. The collection includes 76 new synthetic brushes, all of which were hand-crafted and perfected during a 5-year testing process. Each brush involved 25 unique stages and was crafted by a total of 30 people from start to finish.

The Artisan Brush Collection ranges from everyday must-have brushes to more customized artistry tools. They are classified numerically as follows:

> 100’s (complexion)
> 200’s (eyes)
> 300’s (lips)
> 400’s (artistic – designed for the professional)

Based on their intended use, each brush has either straight, wavy or a combination of the two fibres. Straight fibres provide more of a generous, precise application while wavy fibres produce a lighter application.

I’ve only tried one face and one eye brush so far, but I can already say that these brushes are constructed quire well. The brush handles have a beveled end and are made from beechwood. They all also feature a sturdy, gunmetal ferrule. Since the hair fibres are synthetic, the MUFE Artisan Brushes are cruelty-free. The brush fibres however, were made to mimic the softness of natural hair brushes so they are incredibly soft!!

#132 Powder Flat Kabuki

This interesting looking kabuki brush is flat, supple and rounded. It has wavy fibres and is ideal for sculpting the face using any loose powder. The unique head of this brush is great for light and even powder application, especially on larger areas. The tip of the brush or the flat edge can be used to sculpt more precise areas.

#262 Angled Eyeliner Brush

This brush features straight fibres and looks like a typical angled eyeliner brush. The angled shape of the brush allows it to hug the shape of the eye while creating thick or thin lines by varying application pressure. This brush can be used for making very precise lines or for smudging. It can be used with liquids, creams, gels, loose or compact powders.
