The Ultimate Manicure….The Dior Way!

Even though this season is all about matte nails and other trendy textures/finishes, sometimes we just need to stick to the basics. I love the classic and understated French ManicureIt’s simple and classy style sticks around every season while other nail trends come and go. But wearing the classic manicure doesn’t mean you need to invest in the strips or even a full kit. Dior has released The Expert Pen….which is said to take the fuss out of achieving an at home French manicure. While I haven’t tried this product yet, it is definitely going on my Holiday wish list!

For a perfect manicure with professional results, Dior has also designed a nail care beauty routine enriched with Apricot, renowned for its nourishing and moisturizing properties. Before I get into the Abricot Collection, I need to mention that I have a wee little obsession with another one of Dior’s nail products. So much that I feel compelled to mention it again. I first tried out Nail Glow back in April. The innovative and high-shine formula instantly boosts the pink and natural pigment on your nail bed and brightens up the white tips. It was designed to give the appearance of a French manicure in just one application and I absolutely love how it makes my nails look! Ok, now onto the new collection.

Dior’s Abricot Manicure Collection includes 8 products, many of which I have been testing out for the last few months. While I haven’t tried them all, each of the products that I do have, hold a special place in my nail care routine and have earned their spot on my vanity.

Healthy looking nails and cuticles CAN go “naked” with confidence. To keep my cuticles healthy, I’ve been using the Huile Abricot Daily Nutritive Serum. It intensely nourishes, smooths and strengthens my nails while hydrating my cuticles. It’s formula includes apricot oil, essential fatty acids, antioxidants and Vitamin E…so it protects and hardens nails. What I especially like though, is the easy to use brush applicator!

The Diorlisse Abricot Nude Perfectors are just “perfect”! This ridge filler is by far the best one I’ve ever come across. The Perfector comes in two shades: a natural rose and an apricot hue. This product basically smooths out any ridges or imperfections that you may have on the nail surface while adding a hint of subtle colour. It also nourishes, whitens and strengthens the nails.

What would a nail collection be without a base and top coat?  Don’t quote me, but I think this Base Coat Abricot may have been reformulated? Nonetheless, it treats, strengthens and smooths the nail surface before nail enamel is applied. Acting as a protective barrier, it’s texture gives the perfect glide for a flawless and long-wearing manicure. The Top Coat Abricot promotes a faster-drying, longer-lasting and shinier result. I have personally found that this top coat extends the wear of my polish my 1-2 days. Honestly guys, this is a great option to add that finishing touch to your manicure.

For those of you wanting to splurge on something a little special, Dior’s Dissolvant Abricot is definitely a bit of a luxury item. Not exactly your ordinary polish remover, this acetone-free remover is gentle and includes Apricot care concentrate that quickly and effectively removes polish. While many of you will think $20 is expensive for a polish remover of this size, keep in mind that it’s formula does not dry out the nails and helps to revive the nails natural shine and white colour.

Lastly, Creme Abricot was created in 1963 and has since been coined Dior’s cult nail product. Inside the little round pot (pictured below) is an apricot coloured “miracle cream” that nourishes nails and beautifies hands. Over 150,000 pots of this legendary treatment are sold every year. The rich nail cream contains an overdose of lanolin and is enhanced with bees wax which is said to promote nail growth. I have also added this product to my Holiday wish list…mostly because I want to see what all the hype is about.
