Have you been to a Sephora lately? It seems that every major brand they carry is coming out with something great for the Holidays. I have a very obvious weakness for Benefit products as many of you know…..but I especially like when they release their limited edition “value kits” throughout the year. The sets are a great way to trial new products or stock up on travel-sized versions of your favourites. Sometimes the kits include more than one full-sized product at a promotional price (usually comparable to just 1 item). I’ve also purchased some that include mini-sized versions of regular or limited edition items…. which I’d highly recommend if you want to try out products before investing in the full size. I’ve never walked away from a Benefit purchase feeling “buyers remorse”. In fact, I think Benefit is amazing and these kits are incredible value for the money!
Groovy Kind-A Love! by Benefit Cosmetics – $36 USD/$43 CDN |
This season, Benefit Cosmetics is launching a number of Holiday sets including a really cool Advent Calendar called Countdown to Love, a mini lip gloss set (Love at First Shine) and Groovy Kind-A Love!, the all-in-one set I’ll be featuring today. This kit is my top pick this year because it’s a complete makeup kit for eyes, lips, cheeks and face. It comes in a functional tin box that houses a number of my favourite products. Here is what’s included in the kit:
> The Porefessional balm (mini sized – 7.5ml)
> They’re Real Mascara (mini-sized – 4.0g)
> Benetint (mini-sized – 4.0ml)
> Dandelion & Gimme Fever Cheek Powder (mini duo – 3.0g)
> 4 Eye Shadows (4 x 1.2g)
> Double-ended sponge applicator
The eye shadows in this kit are incredibly soft & creamy. I like everything about them and wouldn’t change a thing. The shades are all neutral, making them great options for anyone, regardless of skin tone or eye colour. Who doesn’t like a flattering golden bronze shadow and who couldn’t use a matte white in their collection?
I think it’s fair to say that They’re Real mascara has achieved cult status. I’m sure you’ve heard about it and if not, where have you been lately? Clinical studies have produced great feedback (i.e. dramatic length, volume, base-to-tip curl, visible lift & long-wearing results). If you’re interested in a full review of this mascara, let me know in the comment section below. In a nutshell, this mascara is especially great for those with sparse or wimpy lashes and I think it’s totally worth the price!
Another fan favourite is Benetint, the rose-tinted cheek & lip stain. This product is very versatile and doubles as a blush and a lip stain. It gives cheeks a nice rosy flush and works great when you don’t feel like wearing lipstick but want some colour on your lips.
I have previously done reviews of the Boxed Powders and Porefessional on the site, so if you are interested in learning more about either of them specifically, just click on the links above. I’ve only used this kit a few times so far, but I’ve really been enjoying it …..especially the shadows. The only thing I wish was included in the set was a mini mirror to assist with application, but aside from that it gets a “A” in my books!
