Katy Perry’s Dark Horse video released today and I happen to have all of the details on how to achieve her stunning Cleopatra-inspired look featuring COVERGIRL products. Celebrity makeup artist Jake Bailey created Katy’s look, which is centrally focused on her eye makeup and her intricate liner. This eye makeup is based on the “Egyptian Eye” also known as the “Eye of Horus” which is an ancient Egyptian symbol of protection, royal power and good health.

How To Get Katy’s Makeup Look:

To create the look, Jake used COVERGIRL Bombshell Intensity Liner in Pitch Black Passion to draw the intricate design around her eyes. Once that was complete, he added some sparkle with the Bombshell Shine Shadows. He used Gold Goddess on the center and in the inner corner and Ooh La Lilac on the outer corner. Before the Shine Shadow dried completely, Jake tapped a bright purple glitter on top of the Ooh la lilac and a peach glitter on top of the Gold Goddess areas. The look was finished with a strip of false lashes and two coats of Bombshell Volume Mascara

When doing any intricate eye look, especially one with glitter, Jake recommends doing the eyes first. There’s no point in trying to achieve a flawless complexion, cheek and lip if you’re going to be dropping shadow and glitter all over it! Very true. Once the eyes are finished, buff a thin layer of Outlast 3-in-1 Foundation all over the skin and neck using a flat tipped Kabuki brush. Jake then mixed a touch of Shine Shadow in Golden Goddess with an apricot cream blush on the back of his hand and blended it onto Katy’s cheeks and cheekbones for warmth and glow. As a final step, Jake applied a bold blackberry lipstick from the LipPerfection range called Euphoria. And voila!
