Essie Resort Collection 2014 Takes You to Paradise (Details, Photos & Swatches)

A beach escape is exactly what I could use right about now. This winter has been such a tough one, with icy cold temperatures, a brutal (but pretty!) ice storm and chilling winds. Anyone that lives in Canada would probably agree that Spring should hurry up and get here already! Last October at World Mastercard Fashion Week, I previewed and took home an exciting new collection that I couldn’t share with you until now. Let me start off by saying that I REALLY look forward to Essie’s Resort and Spring Collections every year. In my opinion, they are Essie’s most noteworthy and anticipated releases and never, ever disappoint.
This year’s Resort Collection by Essie takes us to a warm, relaxing place that screams paradise. Picture sunshine, sand, crystal blue waters and cocktails. The collection has a very relaxing, yet fun beach vibe and includes four brand new Essie nail lacquers.
1) Essie Find Me An Oasis (refreshing ice blue)

2) Essie Resort Fling (alluring coral peach)
3) Essie Cocktails & Coconuts (subtle, shimmering warm sand)
4) Essie Under The Twilight (provocative smokey plum)

Application
Each of the shades (with the exception of Under the Twilight) requires three coats to look fully opaque on the nails. The only shade that was challenging to apply was Find Me An Oasis (second coat applied fine though), which is a lighter version of fan favourite Borrowed & Blue. All the others, applied well on first application. Resort Fling has an almost jelly-like cream finish that is slightly sheer. As you layer on each coat, it becomes more beautiful and takes on a creamsicle colour. (this shade looks far better in person than in photographs). Cocktails and Coconuts has a very subtle shimmer to it, and is the perfect transitional nude, while Under The Twilight has the BEST cream formula I have ever encountered. It provides the richest colour & shine in only 1 coat and is a great alternative to black. For the swatches below I used three thin coats (with the exception of Under the Twilight, where I only used 2) and a top coat. I also included a close up photo of Cocktails and Coconuts on the nails to better demonstrate its beautiful yet subtle shimmer.
