Has anyone else noticed that drugstore makeup companies keep releasing products of higher quality? Wet’nWild makes some of the most richly pigmented shadows available for only a few dollars. Recently Revlon, L’oreal and Maybelline all released lip balm/lipstick hybrids that screamed practical and let’s not forget Revlon and their infamous Chanel/Deborah Lippmann nail polish dupes without the designer price tag.
One of the most exciting releases this Fall/Winter has been Maybelline’s Color Eye Tattoos, because before their launch, no other base/cream shadow has even come close to being compared to MAC’s Paintpots, Benefit’s Creaseless Shadows or MakeUp Forever’s Aqua Creams.
Leave it to Maybelline to create the Eye Studio line: a collection of 10 cream eyeshadows that claim to be smudge-proof, crease-proof and wear for 24 hours!
The tattoo shadows come packaged in a simple yet convenient jar and come in a great mix of richly pigmented colors. I’ve never seen such unique and vibrant shades available in cream bases/shadows. Of course, I opted for the two shades that I knew I would get the most use of: a matte taupe and a rusty shimmer that resembles MAC’s Artifact paint pot.
I think there is something for everyone in this collection. Some may prefer the neutrals, while others may opt for the more unique or edgy brights. Either way you can’t lose with any of them, especially for the price!
The consistency of these are like a thick concealer, they are creamy and don’t crease at all. They truly last. And although I haven’t put the 24 hour claim to the test, their staying power is by far the best of all the brands mentioned.
