If you asked me a year or two ago, whether I liked using oils in my hair, I probably would have said…no way. Moroccanoil was the first brand that introduced me to the idea and to be quite honest I’ve never looked back since. The condition of my hair has improved significantly after introducing essential oils to my hair care routine (I also really like the new one by L’Oreal Paris) and now, I couldn’t be a bigger advocate. Other brands have introduced their own versions of oil-enriched haircare products. In fact, one of them promises an oil that’s “a cut above” the rest.  I first fell in love with Redken products at World Mastercard Fashion Week back in the Spring where I watched Jorge Joao and his team of hair stylists use Redken products to work wonders for the runway shows.

To celebrate the launch of Redken’s Diamond Oil Collection, I was invited to a special presentation with Jorge and other members of the Redken team. Guests received an in-depth look at the new range and a custom jeweller was even on hand with a dazzling display of real diamonds! The Diamond Oil collection includes a shampoo, conditioner, treatment mask and two oils….a regular version for normal/fine hair and an intense one for coarse hair.  Stay tuned for more about the shampoo/conditioner & mask in a future post. 

The Shatterproof Shine Oils include a blend of coriander, camelina and apricot oils that penetrate different layers of the hair to nourish and strengthen strands from the inside out. The result – hair that is left feeling fortified and glistening with intense, diamond-like shine!

From a functional perspective, I find both of these oils to be highly effective. They are so luxurious and make my hair look and feel super healthy. I prefer the regular formula and apply only a few drops to damp hair before I blow dry it. If my hair is temperamental due to changes in the climate I also apply a drop or two to my dry hair to tame any fly-aways or frizz. Even though the bottle itself is utterly breathtaking (it mirrors the surface of a cut diamond) I wish it wasn’t made out of glass and wasn’t so heavy. I find it too cumbersome to travel with and often worry about dropping it. But, I do like the push-top dropper, which offers a precise and controlled application.
