Review: Maybelline Color Tattoo Pure Pigments by Eye Studio (Photos & Swatches)

Maybelline’s Color Tattoos caused quite the stir last year, and in my opinion, they were the best drugstore product released in all of 2012. If you’re not familiar with them, check out these links here and here for more information, but seriously…where have you been? This year, Maybelline introduced their Color Tattoo Pure Pigments by Eye Studio which unlike the original formula which is cream-based, features a loose-powder eye shadow formulation.

These pure pigments have intense color intensity and come in a loose powder form. The color-boosting pigments are also crease-proof and have excellent staying power. The two shades that I tried may be too “intense” for those looking for a subtle wash of color on the eyes, since both of them are very bold and dramatic but there are 10 shades in total to choose from, and some of them look to be more neutral in tone.

Never Fade Jade is absolutely stunning! It’s a beautiful green that lacks shimmer but seems to “glisten in the light”. It’s hard to describe, but it is positively gorgeous.

Black Mystery is more of a soft & subtle black. It has a silvery blue sparkle to it that adds dimension to an otherwise ordinary black.
