O.B (which stands for “ohne binde”, German for without napkins) is the original applicator-free tampon. Not going to lie….THAT right there scared me. I have been using a combination of pads and tampons since I was about 14 but I had never tried o.b. until just recently. What I like most about them is that they are so compact/discreet and that there is no messy applicator, however the fact that there is no applicator is also what I’m still getting used to. Despite my reservations, o.b. provided good protection, no leaking and were surprisingly comfortable. DIRECTIONS:
Step 1: Find the string on one end of the tampon and pull it tight from left to right and top to bottom. This widens the base of the tampon, creating a protected pocket for your finger.
Step 2: Place your index finger in the pocket and get a firm hold on the tampon with your thumb and middle finger. Next, stand with one leg up (i.e. rest your foot on the toilet or bathtub).
Step 3: Take a deep breath and relax. Take the o.b.® tampon, and with the full length of your index finger, ease it in, aiming towards your lower back. When the tampon is in the right place, you won’t feel it. If you do, push it a little further in. Leave the string hanging outside of your body. Wash your hands, and you’re done!
When it’s time to remove your tampon (every 8 hours or sooner), wash your hands, relax and gently but firmly tug at the string.
