Remember when the mall was the IT thing? You’d spend hours there on a Saturday or after school, waiting for the grand opening of your new favourite store. Now we have somewhere like Openings24 to tell you when a new store opens in your local area or when promotions happen. If you’re lucky the mall will let you know via social media when there is a big promotion or sale on. That’s what happened with us! Dixie Outlet Mall reached out to a small group of local bloggers and challenged us all to save as much as possible shopping for a new Spring outfit. They gave us each a $200 gift card and encouraged us to find as many #DixieDeals as possible. For those of you from the Greater Toronto area, when was the last time you went shopping at Dixie Mall? If you missed my first post, you can catch up here.
Dixie Mall is located at QEW and Dixie Road in Mississauga. It’s a well known local outlet mall with retailers like the Guess Factory Store, Tommy Hilfiger, Call it Spring, Boathouse, Puma, Urban Planet, Dynamite/Garage & more. The mall delivers what any good shopping mall should…lots of variety, great prices and hidden gems! It’s like a treasure hunt every time I go there! I grew up close to the mall and have seen it transform from a “meh” shopping centre (do you guys remember Khob Hill Farms?) into an impressive fashion destination. With the addition of stores like Winners, Nine West Shoe Studio & Danier, Dixie has become a bargain shopper’s paradise.
Every Thursday, a hot new product is featured in Dixie’s in-mall display. Shoppers are encouraged to Take a Wild Guess to Win by guessing which retailer the item was purchased from. Guess correctly and you could win that item! For more details on this and other contests and promotions, visit the Dixie Mall website.
Ok, back to the challenge. Since I live about 10 minutes from the mall, my original plan was to head over there on a weeknight after work but instead I went shopping on a Sunday afternoon so that I could also meet up with one of my good friends Jenelle (a fellow shopping addict and bargain hunter!). Armed with the gift card, a calculator, some water and a lot of excitement, we began scouring the racks. She immediately spotted an adorable pair of floral sandals at Boathouse that only cost her $8! What’s great about an outlet mall is that everything is already discounted – so if you are fortunate to find something on sale, you can score an even greater deal! I didn’t really have a game plan, but I did have a couple of things on my Spring wish list: wedge sandals, a casual dress, distressed jeans and some cool sneakers. I kept an open mind and even went into stores that I normally would have overlooked. Once I totalled up my outfit, I realized that I had enough money left over to get another outfit! That’s right!! I managed to get an additional dress and pair of shoes too – all for $200! I still can’t believe how much I was able to buy for $200. Below are the stores that I compiled my outfits from. I can’t wait to share them with you. I’ll be revealing soon so make sure to check back to this site often. One of you will also be winning a $200 shopping spree at Dixie Mall!!!
