Yves Saint Laurent Désir de Jour Collection Spring 2015 (Photos & Swatches)

Spring makeup collections are always so fresh and fun! This season, YSL Beauté brings us one of the prettiest collections ever. From feminine pinks to bold blushes and an even an edgy lacquer, Désir de Jour (the desire of the day) captures the essence of Springtime in Paris. First off, the packaging is fabulous…just look at the gorgeous sequin compacts embossed with the YSL logo!! But even more captivating is what’s on the inside…..

”We see a woman, a beautiful silk dress falling off her bare shoulders, but whether she’s in a state of undress or getting dressed, we can’t tell. Feminine, her elegantly cool beauty reveals a mysterious seductive power. This woman is a desire. A fantasy and a reality. Always intriguing. A woman who plays with fire. Fulfilled. Searching for pleasure and sensuality. She doesn’t care about conventional diktats. An untamable and rebel spirit. She is the Yves Saint Laurent woman par excellence. A ‘belle de jour’ whose desire is now celebrated.”

YSL ‘Ombres de Jour’ Couture Palette ($64 CAD)

The 5-Couleurs Prêt-à-Porter Ombres de Jour Palette includes five eye shadows in a gold case covered in pink sequins. The eye shadow shades are a beautiful assortment of day/night options that coordinate well together. The matte black is SO pretty….it has a subtle pink sparkle running through it which allows it to double nicely as a liner! I also love the champagne shade as an inner and brow bone highlight. I’ve always been a big fan of mixing brown and pink shadows as well as mixing cool and warm toned shadows together so I’ve really been enjoying this palette combination for Spring.

Shades & Swatches:

⇒ Iridescent champagne

⇒ Rich camel beige

⇒ Intense pink

⇒ Golden brown

⇒ Matte black with pink sparkle

YSL ‘Palette Lumière de Jour’  ($55 CAD – The Bay exclusive)

Encased in a gold compact with white sequins, this finely milled “glow enhancing pressed powder” produces more of an all-over subtle glow that an obvious highlight when applied to light-medium toned skin. Because it is a cool-toned, soft pink shade, I find that it works best when applied all over the face for a shimmery healthy-looking glow. As beautiful as this product looks, I find it to be too sheer to use as a highlight. It looks lovely however when used as a pressed powder.

YSL ‘Blush Volupté’  ($52 CAD)

There are new 2 blushes for Spring 2015: an intensely pigmented, 70’s inspired pink (#4 Baby Doll) and a warmer coral (#6 Passionnée). Both shades add a burst of bold colour to the cheeks. Model Cara Delevingne in the promo image above is wearing Blush Volupté in Baby Doll. Product packaging can also be seen in the collage above.

YSL ‘Rouge Volupté Shine’ ($39 CAD)

YSL’s Rouge Volupté Shine welcomes 2 new shades to the family for Spring. The Rouge Volupté Shine formula is one of the most hydrating lip formulas I have ever come across. It leaves lips visibly soft and smooth while providing lovely colour and high-shine. The texture of this lipstick is soft and emollient (very similar to a balm). It glides on easily, is very comfortable on the lips, and uses Hyaluronic acid microspheres to help seal in moisture for hours!

⇒ #28 Rose Intime – fuchsia pink (see swatch below)

⇒ #29 Ambre Indecent – deep red

YSL ‘La Laque Couture’ ($36 CAD)

Seductive & edgy or playful & innocent? The two contrasting nail polishes from YSL’s new Spring Collection look more like lacquers you’d expect to find in a Winter Collection. Both have pretty iridescent sequins running throughout their white or black base.

⇒ #58 Nuit Blanche: white with sequined effect

⇒ #59 Nuit Noire: black with sequined effect

YSL ‘Volupté Tint-in-Oil’ ($35 CAD)

The most noteworthy product of the collection (aka the one I am most excited about!!) is YSL’s first lip oil infused with colour – Volupté Tint-in-Oil! The revolutionary new lip colour is a blend of apricot kernel, coriander fruit, jojoba seed & possiflora edulis seed oils combined with pigment. The lightweight, conditioning oil leaves behind a beautiful stain on the lips and the exclusive applicator makes applying this product easy and precise. Comes in 8 shades.
